Today, our community came together in the strongest way to celebrate Giimaa Giizhigat, a day filled with pride, tradition, and the powerful reminder of who we are and where we come from.
From the moment the blanket ceremony began, you could feel the love and support wrapping around our newly elected Chief, Nicole Bush, and Councillors Jennifer Sampson, Angela McLeod, Caeley Genereux, and Ron McKinley. Their commitment to our Nation was honoured in the most beautiful way, surrounded by family, community, and the teachings of our ancestors.
We shared a feast that warmed the heart, a giveaway that lifted spirits, and witnessed the reading and signing of the Oath of Office, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Sheshegwaning First Nation. The room was filled with excitement, hope, and the collective strength of our people.
Miigwetch to everyone who helped make this day unforgettable.
Our community showed up with pride, unity, and joy; exactly the way our ancestors would want us to step into the future.
Here’s to new leadership, renewed vision, and the good work ahead.
Chi-Miigwetch, Sheshegwaning, our hearts are full today.
